With each passing day, my nerves grow more and more tense.

 

It’s Friday, and I still haven’t heard anything from Derek in London. I have only four days left before I fly back to England. I’m at my host family's home, and they are all out preparing for the wedding. Just then, Christine walked in with a fax from Derek that had been sent to the Church Office for me. I could feel the blood draining from my face as I read the fax. I couldn’t believe it—Derek was unable to reach the woman he had intended to connect me with for accommodation.

 

I slowly turned, walked to my bedroom and shut the door behind me. For a moment, I felt utterly alone. What am I going to do? No one can help me. No one! I remembered the words Christer had spoken to me back in the kitchen at the Ranch about the man of faith.

 

I sat down on the bed and closed my eyes. The next words I spoke out loud made me feel nauseous: “Okay Lord, I’ll do it! I will walk into the street when I land at Gatwick, expecting You to lead me to someone who will offer me a place to stay. I’ll do it Lord.” I couldn’t believe what I had just committed myself to.

I sat there trying to picture the situation that awaited me when I landed. Suddenly, Christine knocked on my bedroom door and told me there was a phone call for me. I picked up the phone, and I heard the voice of a woman with an English accent. “Hi Leonie, it’s Linda. Could you please give me your flight details?” Who is this Linda, I wondered? I’ve met so many new people here that I can’t remember all their names. Who is Linda, and why does she want my flight details? Then she continued, “I don’t know if you remember us. We met you on the first day at the Ranch when we dropped off your room-mate. She mentioned that you need accommodation in England. My friend will pick you up from the airport, and you can stay with her.”

 

Oh, thank You Lord! Thank You, thank You, thank You! I don’t have to walk into the street with my suitcase. Thank You so much Lord!

 

I believe the Lord waited for me to commit to that plan so He could show me how much He loves and cares for me.
